The MUELLER STREAMLINE W-1717 is a copper flush bushing used to reduce pipe size within a sweat fitting connection. It transitions from a 5/8-inch male fitting (FTG) end to a 3/8-inch female solder (FS) cup end. The flush-style design sits inside the fitting socket without protruding, maintaining a clean, compact joint. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing during new construction and retrofit work where a standard reducing coupling is not practical or space is limited. It is sold individually as a single unit.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where copper sweat connections are standard practice. Typical applications include water supply lines, refrigeration tubing connections, and HVAC refrigerant piping that requires a size reduction at a fitting junction. The flush design is particularly useful in tight spaces where a standard hex bushing would interfere with adjacent components.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting for copper plumbing and refrigeration systems requiring a 5/8-inch to 3/8-inch size reduction at a fitting connection point.
Installation requires a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter working with copper sweat (solder) connections. Shut off and drain the water supply or recover refrigerant from the system before beginning work. Clean and flux all mating surfaces before soldering, and follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for joint preparation and solder material selection. Do not use open flame near flammable materials without appropriate shielding.
