The MUELLER STREAMLINE PDWVSANT442 is a PVC DWV reducing sanitary tee designed for drain, waste, and vent piping systems in residential and light commercial construction. Built to SCH 40/STD wall thickness, this fitting connects a 4-inch main run to a 2-inch branch line using a hub end configuration that solvent-welds to standard PVC DWV pipe. The white PVC body carries a 140 degrees F service temperature rating, making it suitable for the gravity-flow waste and vent applications typical in sanitary drain systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting type.
This reducing sanitary tee is used in DWV rough-in work where a 4-inch horizontal drain line requires a 2-inch branch takeoff - common in bathroom groups, kitchen drain stacks, and main building drain assemblies. The sanitary tee geometry directs flow smoothly from the branch into the main line, which is required by code in drain and waste service. The hub ends accept standard Schedule 40 PVC DWV pipe at each of the three ports.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction fitting for Schedule 40 PVC DWV piping systems requiring a 4 x 4 x 2 inch reducing sanitary tee with hub connections.
Installation of DWV fittings must comply with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes - a licensed plumber should perform or supervise this work. Before making any connections, shut off the water supply and ensure the drain system is empty and dry. Clean pipe ends, apply the correct PVC primer and solvent cement in the order specified by the cement manufacturer, and hold the joint firmly for the recommended cure time before testing. Sanitary tees must be installed with the branch inlet facing up in horizontal drain lines - do not install this fitting inverted or use it as a combination wye in applications where flow direction codes prohibit it.
