The MUELLER STREAMLINE K010050 is a PVC DWV reducing coupling designed to connect drain, waste, and vent piping of two different diameters within a gravity-flow plumbing system. It transitions from a 4-inch nominal inlet to a 2-inch nominal outlet using a hub end style on both connections, allowing solvent-welded joints to PVC DWV pipe and fittings. The all-PVC construction keeps the fitting lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and compatible with standard solvent cement joining methods. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling during new construction and remodel work where reducing the drain line diameter is required.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial DWV applications, including branch drain reductions, stack transitions, and fixture drain tie-ins. The hub end style accepts standard PVC DWV pipe and is joined using a two-step primer and solvent cement process per manufacturer and code requirements. It is manufactured domestically and meets the dimensional standards expected for Schedule 40 DWV PVC fittings used in gravity-drain systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 4-inch by 2-inch nominal PVC DWV piping systems using hub-end solvent-weld connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable plumbing code, such as the IPC or UPC. Shut off water supply and ensure the drain line is empty and dry before cutting into existing piping. Clean and deburr pipe ends, apply PVC primer followed by solvent cement to both the pipe and hub, and seat the pipe firmly with a quarter-turn twist. Allow adequate cure time before restoring flow as specified on the solvent cement product labeling.
