The MUELLER STREAMLINE FTG00846 is a straight wrot copper reducer fitting designed for sweat-solder copper tubing systems. It connects a 0.88-inch fitting (FTG) end to a 0.62-inch copper (C) end using female solder and male solder joints. At 1.5 inches in actual length, this compact reducer transitions between two common copper tube sizes in a single piece. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial water supply, hydronic, and refrigeration piping where a reliable, all-copper brazed or soldered joint is required.
This reducer fitting is suited for new construction and retrofit applications where copper tubing lines change diameter. The straight configuration keeps the run inline without introducing an offset, making it a practical choice in tight spaces inside wall cavities, mechanical rooms, and under-slab rough-in work. The FTG-side inlet accepts a copper tube or fitting spigot end directly, which eliminates the need for an additional coupling in certain configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat-solder copper reducer for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic systems using standard copper tubing with matching FTG and C end dimensions.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM B88 copper tube standards. Shut off and drain the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting or soldering. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux before heating; do not overheat wrot copper fittings, as excess heat can damage the fitting and compromise the joint. Use lead-free solder where required by code for potable water systems.
