The MUELLER STREAMLINE CPL00902 is a wrot copper reducing coupling designed for sweat (solder) connections in residential and commercial copper piping systems. It transitions a 1/2-inch copper line down to a 1/4-inch copper line using a C x C (copper-to-copper) sweat connection on both ends. At 0.02 pounds and compact dimensions of approximately 0.57 inches wide by 0.86 inches long, this fitting installs quickly and holds up under the pressure and temperature demands of typical plumbing and HVAC refrigerant line applications. It meets ASME and NSF standards, confirming suitability for potable water and mechanical systems alike.
This reducing coupling is suited for plumbing rough-in, HVAC refrigerant piping, hydronic systems, and other copper tubing installations where a reduction in line size is required. The C x C sweat configuration is the standard connection method for hard copper tube in both residential and light commercial work. Installers use it wherever a step-down from 1/2-inch to 1/4-inch copper is needed within a run, at branch points, or during equipment connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for copper sweat piping systems using hard copper tube per ASTM B88 Type L or Type M in plumbing and HVAC applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician familiar with sweat soldering practices. Shut off and depressurize the line, then drain any standing water before cutting and fitting. Clean and flux all mating surfaces per standard practice before applying heat with a torch and lead-free solder as required by applicable plumbing codes. Refer to IPC or local adopted code for solder alloy requirements on potable water systems.
