The MUELLER STREAMLINE COTRED121234 is a copper reducing tee used to split or branch a single water or fluid line into two directions while changing pipe size at one of the outlets. The fitting connects a 1/2-inch run on both ends with a 3/4-inch branch takeoff, making it useful where a larger supply line feeds a smaller distribution line or vice versa. Installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters, this fitting is suited for potable water, hydronic heating, and general plumbing applications. Copper construction provides corrosion resistance and long service life under standard pressure conditions.
This reducing tee is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where pipe size transitions occur at a branch connection. Typical install scenarios include domestic hot and cold water distribution, radiant heating loops, and HVAC hydronic piping. The 1/2 x 1/2 x 3/4-inch configuration is a common size in residential rough-in work and system retrofits where supply and branch line diameters differ.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for copper sweat-solder plumbing systems using 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch nominal copper tubing.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and drain the line before cutting or fitting. Clean all pipe ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering. Do not apply heat to a fitting that still contains standing water, as trapped moisture will prevent a proper solder joint.
