The MUELLER STREAMLINE CORED234 is a copper reducing coupling designed to join two copper pipes of different diameters in a sweat-solder (C x C) connection. It transitions from a 2-inch nominal pipe to a 3/4-inch nominal pipe, making it a standard fitting for downsizing flow in copper plumbing systems. This type of fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on residential and light commercial water supply, hydronic heating, and refrigeration piping systems where a clean, pressure-rated reduction is required.
This reducing coupling is suited for applications where copper pipe runs must step down in diameter, such as branch takeoffs in potable water distribution, radiant heating loops, or mechanical room piping. The C x C end connections accept standard copper tubing on both ends and are joined using lead-free solder and flux per local plumbing code requirements. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit work wherever a sweat-style 2-inch to 3/4-inch reduction is needed.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting compatible with standard 2-inch and 3/4-inch nominal copper tubing per ASTM B88 Type K, L, and M specifications commonly used in plumbing and hydronic systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Pipe ends must be cut square, deburred, and cleaned with emery cloth before applying flux and soldering. Use only lead-free solder where the fitting is installed on potable water systems.
