The MUELLER STREAMLINE CORED112114 is a copper reducing coupling designed to connect two copper pipes of different diameters using a sweat-solder (C x C) joint on both ends. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch pipe to a 1-1/4 inch pipe in a single fitting, eliminating the need for adapters or additional components. This fitting is used in potable water, hydronic heating, and general plumbing distribution systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a pipe run requires a diameter reduction, keeping flow paths clean and leak-free when properly soldered.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations. Typical applications include domestic hot and cold water supply lines, recirculation loops, and hydronic heating distribution piping. The C x C end configuration requires both pipe ends to be cleaned, fluxed, and soldered per standard copper joining practices. It fits inline wherever a 1-1/2 inch line must step down to 1-1/4 inch without introducing a union or threaded transition.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use reducing coupling for 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch copper sweat piping systems in residential and light commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off and drain the water supply completely before cutting into any existing pipe run. Clean all pipe ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth or a fitting brush, apply appropriate flux, and solder using lead-free solder per code requirements for potable water systems. Avoid overheating the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can damage the copper and compromise joint integrity.
