The MUELLER STREAMLINE COADCMIPRED1238 is a copper male reducing adapter configured in a C x MIP end pattern, transitioning from a 1/2-inch copper sweat (C) connection to a 3/8-inch male iron pipe (MIP) threaded end. This fitting is used to reduce pipe size while converting from a soldered copper connection to a threaded male pipe connection in a single fitting. Plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter in potable water, hydronic heating, and general plumbing supply lines where a size reduction and thread-to-sweat transition are needed at the same joint.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where copper tubing meets threaded pipe fittings. Typical install scenarios include connecting a 1/2-inch copper supply line to a 3/8-inch MIP valve, fixture supply, or fixture shutoff. The C x MIP configuration eliminates the need for a separate reducing coupling and threaded adapter, consolidating the transition into one compact component.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for residential and light commercial copper plumbing systems requiring a 1/2-inch sweat to 3/8-inch MIP reducing transition.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before soldering. The sweat end requires proper flux application, a clean mating surface, and lead-free solder in potable water systems per applicable code. The MIP threaded end should be assembled with an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to ensure a leak-free connection.
