The MUELLER STREAMLINE COADCFIPRED3814 is a copper female reducing adapter configured in a C x FIP end pattern, designed to transition from a 3/8-inch copper sweat connection to a 1/4-inch female iron pipe thread. This fitting is used in plumbing and hydronic systems where a solder-joint copper line must connect to a threaded fitting or valve. The all-copper construction provides reliable corrosion resistance and maintains consistent flow characteristics through the reduction. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters install this adapter when downsizing a copper line to a smaller threaded port on equipment, valves, or supply assemblies.
This reducing adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a 3/8-inch copper supply line terminates at a 1/4-inch FIP threaded component. Typical applications include connecting copper tubing runs to threaded valves, gauges, or equipment ports that require a smaller female thread entry. The sweat-by-FIP configuration makes it compatible with standard torch-soldered copper systems alongside any 1/4-inch male NPT-threaded counterpart fitting or device.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for residential and light commercial copper plumbing systems requiring a 3/8-inch sweat to 1/4-inch FIP reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and drain the line before soldering. Clean and flux the copper sweat end thoroughly before applying heat, and allow the joint to cool completely before applying thread sealant or connecting the FIP side. Do not apply pipe wrench force to the copper body when tightening the threaded connection.
