The MUELLER STREAMLINE 5826 is a reducing PVC DWV hub wye fitting designed for drain, waste, and vent piping systems in residential and commercial construction. Sized at 2 inches by 2 inches by 1-1/2 inches with a 45-degree angle and hub-by-hub-by-hub end connections, this fitting accommodates branch line reductions within a DWV stack or horizontal drain run. The smooth interior walls minimize scaling and support consistent flow. PVC construction provides strong resistance to chemicals and corrosion. Dimensional integrity is held to ASTM D2665, F1498, D331, and D1784 standards, ensuring reliable fit with compatible schedule pipe and fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This fitting is suited for sanitary drainage, waste, and vent applications in both industrial and residential environments. The reducing configuration allows a 1-1/2-inch branch to tie into a 2-inch main line at a 45-degree angle, a common layout in lavatory, sink, and floor drain rough-in work. The hub connection style accepts solvent-weld joints per standard DWV installation practice. NSF 14 and UPC listing confirms suitability for potable-water-adjacent drainage and sanitary waste systems where code compliance is required.
Designed as an OEM-style DWV fitting for use with standard 2-inch and 1-1/2-inch schedule PVC DWV pipe and fittings in sanitary, industrial, and chemical-resistant drainage systems meeting NSF 14 and UPC requirements.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local amendments. Shut off water supply and ensure the drain system is depressurized and cleared before cutting into an existing line. Use a compatible PVC solvent cement and primer rated for DWV applications; follow manufacturer cure times before restoring flow. Confirm all branch angles and fall-per-foot pitch requirements before cementing joints, as solvent-welded PVC connections are permanent once cured.
