The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W 02088 is a wrot copper 90-degree elbow fitting designed for sweat-solder connections in copper piping systems. It accepts copper tube in a cup-by-cup (C x C) end configuration and forms a leak-tight 90-degree change of direction when soldered by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. At 3 inches fitting size with an outside diameter of 3.125 inches and a weight of 1.92 pounds, this elbow is suited for larger-diameter domestic water, hydronic heating, and mechanical piping runs where wrot copper is specified over cast fittings for its finer grain structure and smoother interior wall.
This fitting is appropriate for residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical systems that require a 3-inch copper 90-degree turn. Typical applications include main service lines, large-bore hydronic supply and return mains, chilled water distribution, and fire suppression pre-action lines where copper is code-approved. It is installed by licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors working on systems that demand compliance with ASME and NSF standards. The solder-joint end connections make it compatible with standard Type K, L, and M copper tube at the 3-inch nominal size.
Designed as an OEM-style solder-joint fitting for use with standard 3-inch nominal copper tube (Type K, L, or M) in plumbing and mechanical piping systems where ASME B16.22 wrot copper fittings are specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASME standards. Shut off and drain the affected piping section completely before cutting and fitting; residual moisture will prevent solder from bonding properly. Clean tube ends and fitting cups thoroughly with emery cloth or a pipe brush, apply appropriate flux, and sweat the joint using lead-free solder where required by code for potable water systems. Inspect the completed joint for full solder fill around the circumference before restoring pressure.
