The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W 01131 is a wrot copper pipe adapter designed for 1/2-inch copper piping systems using a solder joint connection. This fitting transitions from a copper (C) socket end to a male (M) threaded end, allowing a sweat-connected copper line to terminate at a male NPT thread. Wrot copper construction delivers consistent wall thickness and tight tolerances, making it suitable for pressure-rated plumbing and HVAC hydronic applications. The fitting meets multiple ASME and NSF standards. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians install this type of adapter when connecting copper tubing runs to threaded valves, equipment ports, or fixture supply lines.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating, and refrigeration piping where a 1/2-inch copper line must connect to a male-threaded component. Typical applications include water supply rough-in, boiler piping, and equipment connections requiring a sweat-to-male-thread transition. The C x M end configuration means the copper tube is inserted into the socket end and soldered, while the male thread connects directly to a female-threaded fitting, valve, or port.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2-inch copper piping systems requiring a solder-to-male-thread transition in plumbing and HVAC hydronic applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASME B16 standards. Shut off and depressurize the water or fluid system and allow all piping to cool completely before soldering. Clean and flux all mating surfaces per standard sweat-soldering practice before applying heat. When threading the male end, use an appropriate thread sealant or tape rated for the service fluid and do not overtighten the threaded connection.
