The MUELLER INDUSTRIES W 01022 is a wrot copper pipe coupling designed for permanent, leak-tight connections in copper piping systems. Configured with a C x C (copper-to-copper) end connection and a solder joint style, this fitting accepts standard 1/2-inch copper pipe on both ends, with an outside diameter of 5/8 inch. Wrot copper construction delivers superior grain structure and pressure performance compared to cast fittings, making it a reliable choice for plumbing, HVAC hydronic, and refrigeration piping applications. Licensed plumbers and HVAC mechanics routinely specify this coupling for both new installations and repair work requiring a code-compliant, soldered joint.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial applications where 1/2-inch copper pipe is run for domestic water supply, hydronic heating, or refrigerant piping. The solder joint connection method is standard practice for copper systems and produces a mechanically strong, corrosion-resistant joint when properly fluxed and brazed or soldered. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units, making it practical for stocking on service vehicles or in shop inventory.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock coupling for 1/2-inch copper pipe systems using C x C solder joint connections in plumbing and HVAC applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC mechanic in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IAPMO or IPC standards. Shut off and depressurize the water or fluid system and allow all pipes to cool completely before cutting and fitting. Clean pipe ends and fitting cups thoroughly, apply appropriate flux, and solder or braze per the fitting manufacturer and code requirements. Avoid overheating the fitting, as excessive heat can degrade the copper and compromise joint integrity.
