The MUELLER INDUSTRIES BDNA-15872 is a wrot copper pipe tee designed for sweat-solder connections in small-diameter copper piping systems. Sized at 1/8 inch on all three ports with a C x C x C (copper solder cup) end connection, this tee allows a branch takeoff from a straight run of 1/8-inch copper tubing. Wrot copper construction provides uniform wall thickness and reliable pressure integrity, making it suitable for potable water, refrigeration, and other fluid-handling applications where a brazed or soldered joint is required. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the typical installers.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC systems wherever a 1/8-inch branch connection is needed off a main run. Common applications include low-volume water lines, gauge lines, oil lines, and small refrigerant piping. The 1/8-inch C x C x C configuration is well suited to instrumentation and control-line work where compact fittings are required. All three ports accept standard 1/8-inch copper tubing prepared with flux and solder.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for copper piping systems using 1/8-inch outside-diameter tubing with sweat-solder end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with the applicable plumbing code such as the IPC or local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system and drain any standing water before cutting into the line. Clean all tube ends and fitting cups thoroughly, apply appropriate flux, and heat evenly with a torch before feeding solder. Avoid overheating the fitting, as wrot copper is sensitive to excessive torch dwell time at this small diameter.
