The MUELLER INDUSTRIES 15749 is a wrot copper reducer coupling with a rolled stop, designed for sweat-connect copper pipe joints in plumbing and mechanical piping systems. The rolled stop ensures consistent pipe insertion depth, which helps maintain accurate joint geometry and uniform solder distribution during assembly. Constructed from wrot copper, this fitting delivers the pressure integrity and corrosion resistance expected in potable water, hydronic heating, and HVAC refrigerant piping applications. This fitting ships in a package quantity of two. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters using standard soldering or brazing procedures.
This reducer coupling is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications where copper sweat connections are specified. The C x C end configuration accepts standard copper tube on both ends, making it a straightforward drop-in component during new construction or repair work. The 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/2 inches fitting size covers common branch and main line connections in plumbing distribution and mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for copper sweat piping systems using 1-1/2 inch nominal copper tube with C x C end connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the water or fluid system completely before cutting or disassembling any pipe section. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply appropriate flux before soldering or brazing; follow ASTM B828 procedures for solder joint assembly. Do not overheat the fitting during torch application, as excessive heat can damage the copper and compromise joint integrity.
