The MORRIS PRODUCTS 90422 is a dual-rated split bolt connector with spacer, designed for joining copper and aluminum conductors in electrical distribution and splicing applications. The spacer keeps conductors separated during installation, ensuring consistent contact pressure across the full conductor surface. Rated for 4/0 AWG conductors in both copper and aluminum, this connector meets the demands of licensed electricians working on service entrance, feeder, and branch circuit splices where bi-metallic conductor connections are required.
This split bolt connector is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations where copper-to-copper, aluminum-to-aluminum, or copper-to-aluminum conductor splices must be made. It is commonly used at service panels, meter bases, and junction points in conduit systems. The included spacer makes it practical for tap connections where the run and tap conductors need to remain positionally stable throughout the termination process.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use split bolt connector for 4/0 AWG copper or aluminum conductors in commercial and residential electrical splicing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before making any conductor connections. Apply appropriate anti-oxidant compound when joining aluminum conductors per local code requirements. Tighten the bolt to the connector manufacturer's recommended procedure using an appropriate wrench, and wrap the completed connection with listed electrical tape or insulating covers as required by code.
