The MODINE 12383 is a natural gas valve designed as an OEM-compatible replacement for Honeywell VR8200A2900, 1449D2C7, and 47117663. It operates on 24 volts at 60 Hz, single phase, drawing 0.5 amps. The valve includes 1/2-inch female pipe connections and a regulator preset at 3.5 inches water column with an adjustable range of 3 to 5 inches water column. Licensed gas technicians and HVAC service professionals install this valve in commercial and residential unit heater applications. It controls the flow of natural gas to the burner assembly and is a direct drop-in for the Honeywell valve it replaces.
The 12383 fits a broad range of Modine unit heater models across the BA, BAE, BD, BDP, BV, CP, CX, DJE, FX, GHG, PA, PAE, PD, PDP, and PV series. Compatible date ranges span units manufactured before 1/1/84 through those produced after 10/1/86, covering several production generations. Refer to the full model list below and cross-reference the unit nameplate before ordering to confirm the correct gas valve for the specific unit and production date.

Gas valve replacement must be performed by a licensed gas technician in accordance with local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the gas supply at the manual shutoff valve upstream of the unit and disconnect power to the 24-volt control circuit before beginning work. Verify inlet and outlet orientation, pipe thread engagement, and leak-test all connections with an approved gas leak detection solution after installation. Do not attempt to adjust the regulator beyond the stated 3 to 5 inches water column range.
