The MITUTOYO 7010S-10 is a magnetic-base indicator positioner holder designed for securing dial indicators and similar precision measurement instruments during inspection and layout work. It features a post-and-adjustable-rod arm configuration mounted to a rectangular magnetic base with a 130 lb pull rating. The post stands 177.00 mm (approximately 6.97 inches) tall with a 12.00 mm diameter. The adjustable arm measures 165.00 mm (approximately 6.50 inches) in length with a 10.00 mm diameter. This holder is used by machinists, quality control technicians, and tool-and-die professionals who need stable, repeatable indicator positioning on ferrous surfaces.
This positioner holder is suited for use in machine shops, inspection rooms, and fabrication environments where indicators must be held rigidly against ferrous machine tables, surface plates, or workholding fixtures. The magnetic base activates to lock onto the work surface, and the arm assembly adjusts to position the indicator spindle at the required angle and depth. Typical applications include runout checks, flatness inspection, bore alignment, and setup verification on mills, lathes, and surface grinders. The clamping end accepts indicator stems of 6.00 mm, 8.00 mm, and 9.53 mm (3/8 inch) diameter, covering the most common indicator shank sizes in use.
Designed as a general-purpose magnetic indicator holder compatible with dial indicators and test indicators using shank diameters of 6.00 mm, 8.00 mm, or 9.53 mm (3/8 inch), which are standard across most precision measurement instrument brands.
Installation is performed by machinists or quality control technicians and requires no special tools beyond what is needed to mount the indicator itself. Before activating the magnetic base, confirm the mounting surface is clean, flat, and free of chips or debris that could reduce holding force or affect measurement accuracy. Activate the base switch only after the arm and indicator are roughly positioned to avoid uncontrolled movement. Do not use on non-ferrous surfaces, painted surfaces, or any surface where the rated 130 lb pull force cannot be fully developed.
