The MITUTOYO 513-504-10E is a horizontal-style dial test indicator designed for precision measurement in machining, metrology, and quality-control applications. It covers a maximum measurement range of 0.01 inches per revolution with a dial graduation of 0.0001 inches and a stated accuracy of 0.0002 inches, making it suitable for surface runout checks, part alignment, and fixture setup. The indicator features a jeweled bearing for smooth, consistent needle response and an O-ring seal with dust and oil protection for reliable performance in shop environments. Licensed machinists, metrologists, and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and users of this instrument.
This indicator is suited for precision inspection work in manufacturing, toolroom, and quality-assurance environments. The horizontal style and dovetail mount allow it to seat in standard indicator holders, magnetic bases, and surface gauge arms commonly found in machine shops and inspection departments. The 0-5-0 balanced dial reading simplifies both positive and negative deviation checks from a set reference point. Two contact points are included, and the swivel contact arm provides 220 degrees of angular adjustment for reaching tight or awkward measurement locations.
Designed for use with standard dovetail-style indicator holders, magnetic base arms, and surface gauge stems commonly used in precision inspection and machining applications. Two contact points are included; additional contact points compatible with the 0.079 inch ball diameter and 0.70 inch contact point length may be sourced separately.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or metrologists using a compatible dovetail holder or indicator arm. Secure the dovetail stem firmly before zeroing the dial to prevent drift during measurement. Do not overtighten the clamping screw against the dovetail, as excess clamping force can affect stylus travel and accuracy. Always zero the indicator against a known reference surface before taking measurements and verify calibration periodically per your facility quality-control procedures.
