The MITUTOYO 513-405-10E is a horizontal-style dial test indicator designed for high-precision measurement in machining, inspection, and metrology applications. It delivers a maximum measurement range of 0.2 mm with a dial graduation of 0.002 mm and a stated accuracy of 0.003 mm (3 micrometers), making it suitable for surface runout checks, part alignment, and fine tolerance verification. The jeweled bearing mechanism supports smooth, repeatable stylus movement. A carbide-tipped contact point and O-ring sealed housing provide durability in shop-floor environments. This indicator is built for precision dimensional inspection tasks on machine tools, surface plates, and fixture setups. The horizontal configuration allows the contact point to approach a workpiece from the side, which suits bore alignment, concentricity checks, and setups where a vertical plunger-style indicator cannot reach. The yellow glare-free crystal dial face with 0-100-0 bidirectional reading enables fast, accurate zeroing without readjustment. The no-clutch structure and automatic reversal mechanism reduce mechanical wear during repetitive measurements. Installation is performed by machinists and metrology technicians using a standard dovetail clamp or indicator holder arm. Secure the knurled clamp ring snugly without over-tightening to avoid distorting the indicator body. Before measuring, ensure the contact point is properly threaded and the indicator is zeroed at mid-range when possible to allow bidirectional travel. Keep the contact point perpendicular to the measured surface within the recommended stylus angle range to maintain stated accuracy.
