The MITUTOYO 505-745 is a stainless steel dial caliper engineered for precision measurement in shop, field, and inspection environments. It covers a full 300 mm range with a dial graduation of 0.02 mm and an accuracy rating of 0.04 mm, making it suitable for high-tolerance work where metric readability is essential. The dial face is yellow with a black dial case, providing strong contrast for fast, accurate readings. Jaw and body construction is stainless steel with a titanium nitride coating for wear and corrosion resistance. The tool ships in a fitted plastic case and carries a proprietary inspection certification. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, HVAC fabricators, and quality-control inspectors are the primary users.
The 505-745 supports four measurement modes in a single tool: outside measurement, inside measurement, depth measurement, and step measurement. The 64 mm jaw length accommodates a wide variety of workpiece geometries. With 2 mm of travel per dial revolution, each graduation represents a fine increment that is easy to track without backlash confusion. This caliper is well suited to production inspection, incoming material verification, and precision layout work in both shop and light field settings where a mechanical dial readout is preferred over digital displays.
Designed as a general-purpose metric dial caliper for use in machine shop, manufacturing, inspection, and field fabrication applications where a 300 mm range and 0.02 mm graduation are required.
No installation is required for this measuring instrument. Before use, close the jaws fully and verify the dial reads zero; adjust the bezel if needed to establish a proper zero reference. Keep the sliding jaw free of debris and apply a light coat of instrument oil periodically to maintain smooth jaw travel and protect the stainless steel surfaces. Store the caliper in its fitted case when not in use to prevent damage to the measuring faces.
