The MITUTOYO 2046A is a metric dial drop indicator designed for high-precision dimensional measurement in machining, inspection, and quality control applications. It features a 0-100 dial reading with 0.010 mm graduation, a maximum measurement range of 10.00 mm, and an accuracy of 0.013 mm. The lug back mounting and 8.00 mm stem diameter make it compatible with standard indicator holders and magnetic base setups. A built-in revolution counter tracks full rotations for measurements that span multiple revolutions. This indicator is built to ISO and JIS standards and is calibrated in metric units.
The MITUTOYO 2046A suits precision layout and inspection work in machine shops, tool rooms, manufacturing facilities, and quality assurance environments. It is used for checking runout, surface flatness, part alignment, and feature-to-feature measurements. The 55.56 mm white dial face provides clear readability under shop lighting. Machinists, tool and die makers, CNC operators, and QC inspectors are the primary users.
Designed for use with standard indicator holders, surface gauges, and magnetic bases accepting an 8.00 mm stem diameter and M2.5 x 0.45 thread accessories. Conforms to AGD Group 2 and ISO/JIS indicator standards.
Installation is performed by machinists or metrology technicians using a standard indicator holder, magnetic base, or dedicated fixture that accepts an 8.00 mm stem. Secure the stem clamp firmly to prevent movement during measurement without overtightening, which can distort readings. Zero the dial at the reference surface before taking measurements, and verify that measuring force is applied along the spindle axis to avoid cosine error. Keep the spindle clean and free of chips or coolant to maintain accuracy.
