The MITUTOYO 133197 is a ball-style contact point designed for use with dial test indicators in precision measurement applications. The contact tip measures 0.1181 inches (3.00 mm) in diameter and is machined from steel for durability and dimensional stability under repeated use. At 0.79 inches in length, this contact point provides the reach needed for surface, bore, and feature runout checks. It is a direct replacement or spare contact tip installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, metrologists, and quality control inspectors working in manufacturing and machine shop environments.
This contact point is suited for precision dimensional inspection tasks including runout measurement, surface parallelism checks, and bore alignment verification. The ball-style tip allows contact on curved and irregular surfaces where a flat or pointed tip would introduce cosine error or mark the workpiece. It is typically used on inspection benches, CMM setups, and manual surface plate work requiring repeatable, low-force contact.
Designed for use with Mitutoyo 513 Series Dial Test Indicators as specified by the manufacturer.
Contact point replacement is performed by machinists and metrology technicians using standard indicator wrenches or spanner tools. Remove the indicator from any active measurement setup before changing the contact point to avoid damage to the indicator spindle. Ensure the threaded stem is fully seated and snug without overtightening, which can distort the contact stem or damage the indicator body. Follow the indicator manufacturer guidelines for torque and thread engagement.
