The MITUTOYO 102825 is a carbide ball contact point designed for use with dial test indicators. It serves as a precision measurement tip, making contact with a workpiece surface and transmitting deflection to the indicator spindle. The 102825 features a ball diameter of 0.0787 inches (2.00 mm) and a contact point length of 0.3622 inches (9.20 mm). The carbide construction resists wear during repeated measurement cycles, maintaining dimensional accuracy over the service life of the tip. This type of contact point is typically installed by machinists, quality technicians, and tool-room professionals working with precision measurement equipment.
This contact point is intended for use with Mitutoyo 513 Series dial test indicators in inspection, machine setup, and surface comparison applications. The ball-style tip is well suited for measuring curved surfaces, bores, and contoured workpieces where a flat or chisel tip would not seat correctly. It fits into standard indicator contact point threads and can be swapped out as part of routine indicator maintenance or when switching measurement tasks.
Designed for use with Mitutoyo 513 Series Dial Test Indicators.
Contact point replacement is typically performed by a machinist or metrology technician. Before swapping the contact point, remove the indicator from service and ensure the spindle is in its neutral position to avoid damage to the mechanism. Use the appropriate wrench or contact point tool to avoid overtightening, which can damage the threaded stem or spindle. Handle carbide tips with care, as carbide is hard but brittle and can chip if dropped onto a hard surface.
