The MITSUBISHI 663074 is a carbide extra length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Measuring 0.4375 inches (7/16 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree drill point angle, this bit features a TiAlN coating, helical fluting, and X-thinning web geometry to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. With an overall length of 6.3000 inches and a flute length of 3.7010 inches, the MVS Series construction supports deeper reach than standard-length tooling. Coolant-through capability makes it suitable for high-speed, high-precision operations in production environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary installers and users.
This drill bit is built for cross hole drilling, stack drilling, and standard through-hole drilling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. Primary applications target steel, stainless steel, structural steel, tempered steel, hardened steel, and carbon steel. Secondary material compatibility extends to aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high-strength bronze, copper, cast iron, iron, and superalloys including titanium. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and right-hand spiral cutting direction make it well-suited for CNC machining centers and production drilling fixtures requiring consistent hole quality and tight tolerances.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production drilling fixtures that accept a 0.472-inch cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, structural steel, tempered steel, hardened steel, cast iron, carbon steel, brass, bronze, copper, aluminum, and aluminum alloys as specified by the manufacturer. Conforms to ISO specification designation.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with cutting tool specifications. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the bit. Verify that the tool holder bore matches the 0.472-inch shank diameter and that the bit is secured to the full recommended shank engagement depth to prevent runout. Coolant-through tooling requires a compatible spindle coolant delivery system to be active during operation.
