The MITSUBISHI 293931 is a CPMH-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. Carrying ANSI code CPMH2.51.51 and ISO code CPMH080204, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with an 11-degree relief angle and a positive side clearance geometry. The CVD coating over a carbide substrate delivers the wear resistance and toughness balance required for stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. It is a neutral-hand insert suitable for finishing and light machining passes where surface finish and edge integrity are the priority.
This insert is intended for turning applications on stainless steel and similar M-group workpiece materials in both production and job-shop environments. It is rated for finishing and light machining operations, making it appropriate where close tolerances and consistent surface quality are required. The US735 manufacturer grade is classified for moderate wear resistance and toughness, positioning it for interrupted or continuous cuts on corrosion-resistant alloys. Machinists and CNC operators working with austenitic or duplex stainless steels will find the SV chip breaker geometry suited to controlled chip formation at finishing feed rates.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for CPMH-style toolholders accepting an inscribed circle of 5/16 inch and an insert thickness of 3/32 inch, conforming to ANSI and ISO CPMH standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure. Always power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid insert cracking or improper seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before mounting a new insert.
