The MITSUBISHI 251328 is a CCGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. It carries ANSI insert code CCGT21.5V5 and ISO insert code CCGT0602V5, identifying its geometry, tolerance, and chip breaker configuration at a glance. The insert is manufactured from carbide in the VP10RT grade and finished with a PVD coating for wear resistance in high-speed finishing and light interrupted cuts. With a corner radius of 0.002 inches (0.05 mm) and an 80-degree rhombic insert shape, this insert is suited to fine-finish turning passes where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for finishing and light semi-finishing turning operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a sharp cutting edge and minimal corner radius are required. The 7-degree relief angle provides clearance geometry appropriate for positive-rake toolholders. The FJ chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during low-depth, high-feed finishing cuts. Typical applications include precision shaft turning, bore finishing on horizontal lathes, and close-tolerance diameter work in aerospace, automotive, and general machining environments.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting CCGT-style inserts with a 1/4 inch inscribed circle and 3/32 inch insert thickness, conforming to ANSI and ISO CCGT geometry standards.
Turning insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered off and spindle locked. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the pocket and clamp for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Always verify insert orientation and cutting edge engagement before resuming machine operation.
