The MITSUBISHI 10600658 is a CNMG-style indexable carbide turning insert designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation CNMG433 and the ISO designation CNMG120412, with an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape and a neutral hand orientation. The PVD-coated carbide grade MP9025 delivers a balance of high wear resistance and toughness, making it well suited for cutting superalloys and other difficult-to-machine special alloys classified under ISO material group S. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it offers good economy per edge in production environments.
This insert is intended for roughing and medium machining applications where tool life under thermal and abrasive stress is a priority. It fits toolholders designed for CNMG-style inserts and is commonly used in aerospace, energy, and heavy industrial machining where nickel-base superalloys, titanium alloys, and heat-resistant materials are the primary workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production facilities are the primary users. The RS chip breaker geometry is optimized to manage chip control across variable depths of cut and feed rates typical of roughing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable replacement insert for CNMG-style external turning toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with a 3/16-inch thickness and negative clearance geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Confirm insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
