The MITEE-BITE 31210 is a steel internal diameter (ID) expansion clamp designed to grip workpieces from the inside bore, providing secure, repeatable holding during machining and fixturing operations. The clamp expands to engage bore diameters from 0.71 to 1.12 inches and delivers 4,000 pounds of holding force at a maximum torque of 49 ft/lb. The body is constructed of steel for durability under the clamping loads typical in CNC and manual machining environments. Mounting is achieved with an 8-32 screw and a six-hole flange pattern. This part is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and fixturing specialists.
The 31210 is suited for workholding applications where external clamping is impractical or where bore-referenced location is required. The six-hole flange mount allows the clamp to be bolted directly into a fixture plate or tombstone. Typical applications include milling, grinding, and turning setups where part repeatability and concentricity are critical. The flange diameter of 1.968 inches and an overall height of 1.625 inches keep the clamp profile low relative to the workpiece, reducing interference with toolpaths.
Designed for use in machining fixtures and workholding setups requiring ID bore engagement in the 0.71 to 1.12 inch diameter range. Consult fixture design requirements to confirm flange footprint and mount hole pattern compatibility before installation.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or toolmaker during fixture build or changeover. Ensure the fixture plate or base is fully powered down or the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or adjusting the clamp. Use a calibrated torque wrench and do not exceed the rated 49 ft/lb torque value stated by the manufacturer. Verify bore diameter is within the specified expansion range before applying clamping force to avoid damage to the clamp or workpiece.
