The MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL CORP 916BR is a 16 oz brass plumb bob used to establish true vertical reference lines on job sites. Plumb bobs are a fundamental layout tool for trades that require precise vertical alignment, including plumbing rough-in, structural framing, electrical conduit runs, and finish carpentry. The 916BR is machined from brass, a material valued for its density, corrosion resistance, and dimensional stability. At 16 oz, it provides enough mass to minimize swing and settle quickly on a taut line, giving accurate readings even in light drafts. This is a hand-use layout tool requiring no power source and no calibration.
The 916BR is suited for residential and light commercial construction and renovation work. Plumbers use plumb bobs to align stack vents and drain rough-in points through multiple floor levels. Electricians and low-voltage installers use them to drop reference points through chase openings. Framers and masons rely on them for wall plumb verification. The brass construction and 16 oz weight class make this bob appropriate for work heights found in standard floor-to-floor residential and commercial framing.
Designed as a general-purpose layout tool compatible with standard plumb bob string, chalk line string, and braided mason line used across construction trades.
Suspend the plumb bob from a fixed anchor point using a non-stretch line for the most accurate vertical reference. Allow the bob to come to a full stop before marking the reference point below. No power shutoff is required for this tool. String and anchor hardware are not included and must be sourced separately.
