The MILWAUKEE 49-59-2000 is a high speed steel (HSS) annular cutter designed for fast, clean hole-cutting in mild steel applications ranging from sheet metal to thick plate. The cutter features a thin-wall construction paired with an advanced tooth geometry that cuts and clears material simultaneously during drilling, reducing cycle time and producing burr-free holes. The 3/4-inch Weldon shank is compatible with most small and large magnetic drill presses, with the appropriate arbor required for larger units. At 0.51 pounds, it is a lightweight tool built for repeated use in fabrication, structural, and mechanical installation work performed by ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics.
The 49-59-2000 is suited for mild steel drilling in industrial, commercial, and on-site fabrication environments. Its 2-inch cutting diameter makes it a common choice for conduit knockout work, pipe flange preparation, and structural steel hole placement. The thin-wall design displaces less material than standard twist drill equivalents of the same diameter, which speeds up production and extends cutter life on high-volume jobs. The ejector pin used with this cutter is part number 49-59-0011, sold separately.
Designed for use with magnetic drill presses accepting a 3/4-inch Weldon shank. Large magnetic drill presses require the correct arbor adapter. Ejector pin 49-59-0011 is recommended for use with this cutter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the magnetic base fully to a clean, flat steel surface before drilling and verify the workpiece is clamped or otherwise restrained. Always cut power to the drill press and allow the cutter to come to a complete stop before changing tooling or clearing chips. Use appropriate cutting fluid for mild steel to maintain cutter life and reduce heat buildup.
