The MILWAUKEE 49-59-1562 is a high speed steel (HSS) annular cutter designed for cutting clean, burr-free holes in sheet metal and mild steel plate. It features a thin-wall construction paired with an advanced tooth geometry that cuts, cleans, and clears chips simultaneously during drilling. This combination delivers faster hole completion and extended cutter life compared to conventional twist-drill methods. The 3/4 in. Weldon shank makes it compatible with most small and large magnetic drill presses when used with the appropriate arbor. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical contractors reach for this cutter when speed and hole quality matter on ferrous material.
This cutter is suited for residential and commercial trade applications involving mild steel fabrication, structural steel, panel boxes, ductwork flanges, and general metal plate work. The thin-wall design displaces less material than full-diameter hole saws or step bits, producing same-size holes with less effort and heat buildup. It is sold as a single unit and is intended for use with magnetic drill presses in field and shop settings. For pilots that require an ejector pin, use companion pin 49-59-0011.
Designed for use with magnetic drill presses equipped with a 3/4 in. Weldon shank arbor. Large magnetic drill presses require the correct adapter arbor. Suitable for mild steel applications only.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the magnetic base firmly to the workpiece and verify full magnetic contact before drilling. Power down the drill press and disconnect from the power source before changing or seating the cutter in the arbor. Do not use on hardened steel, stainless steel, or non-ferrous materials unless the cutter is rated for those substrates.
