The MILWAUKEE 48-13-6702 is a SHOCKWAVE lineman impact auger bit engineered for power utility professionals who drill through wooden utility poles. The 1/2 inch diameter bit features a single spur design that scores the edge of the hole for a clean finish, allowing hardware to pass through without resistance. A reinforced anti-friction PTFE coating reduces friction during drilling and makes bit removal easier. The aggressive feed screw and cutting edge pull the bit through the material, while the optimized wide flute geometry ejects chips rapidly to prevent clogging and maintain drilling speed. The solid stemmed core adds structural strength for demanding field use.
This bit is designed for power utility lineman work, specifically drilling clean holes in wooden utility poles in the field. It is intended for clean wood only and is well suited to repetitive pole drilling tasks where hole quality and speed are both critical. The 7/16 inch hex shank provides fast connection into 7/16 inch quick-connect impact chucks, making it compatible with common impact driver setups used in utility line work. Licensed electricians and utility linemen performing overhead and underground distribution work are the primary installers of this bit.
Designed for use with impact drivers and drills equipped with a 7/16 inch quick-connect chuck. Intended for drilling into wooden utility poles and is recommended for clean wood only.
This bit is installed and used by licensed electricians and certified power utility linemen working on wooden pole infrastructure. Ensure the impact driver or drill is powered off and the chuck is disengaged before inserting or removing the bit. Use appropriate personal protective equipment when drilling overhead or at elevation. Follow applicable OSHA utility work standards and employer safety protocols when working on energized or de-energized pole lines.
