The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES SS5502-32-32 is a 90-degree street pipe elbow designed for high-pressure piping systems that demand corrosion-resistant construction. Built from 316 stainless steel, this fitting connects a 2-inch Male NPTF thread on one end to a 2-inch Female NPTF thread on the other, allowing a direction change directly off a threaded pipe or valve without a separate nipple. It is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 3900 psig and handles operating temperatures up to 1000 degrees F, making it well-suited for demanding industrial, chemical, and process-piping environments. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
This fitting is applied in industrial process lines, high-pressure steam and fluid systems, and corrosive-environment piping where standard carbon steel or brass fittings are not acceptable. The 316 stainless steel alloy provides superior resistance to chlorides and a broad range of process fluids. Its street elbow configuration is particularly useful in tight installations where eliminating a threaded coupling and nipple saves space and reduces potential leak points. It suits both new construction and retrofit applications in refineries, chemical plants, marine systems, and commercial mechanical rooms.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2-inch NPTF threaded piping systems requiring a 90-degree street elbow in 316 stainless steel construction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes. Depressurize and drain the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for the service pressure, temperature, and fluid media before making up threads. Do not over-torque stainless steel fittings, as galling of the threads can occur; use proper anti-seize compound where recommended by site procedures.
