The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES SS5502-02-02 is a 90-degree street pipe elbow designed for high-pressure fluid and gas piping systems. Machined from 316 stainless steel, it connects a 1/8-inch male NPTF thread on one end to a 1/8-inch female NPTF thread on the other, allowing a direction change directly at a fitting or port without a separate coupling. Rated to 10000 psi and 1000 degrees F, this elbow suits demanding industrial, hydraulic, and process piping applications where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are critical. The 1/8-27 NPTF thread form provides a pressure-tight mechanical seal without relying solely on thread sealant.
This fitting is used in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC, hydraulic, and industrial process piping wherever a compact 90-degree turn is needed at a 1/8-inch port. Street elbow geometry eliminates one fitting in tight installations, reducing potential leak points and saving space at manifolds, valves, pumps, and instrumentation ports. The 316 stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for corrosive media, marine environments, and high-temperature service lines where carbon steel or brass fittings would be inadequate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for any system using 1/8-inch NPTF threaded ports, including hydraulic circuits, instrumentation lines, and HVAC or plumbing piping where 316 stainless steel is specified.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or qualified HVAC or hydraulic technicians following applicable code requirements such as the IPC or IFGC. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. NPTF threads are designed to seal on the thread form itself, but applying an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape per the system fluid and pressure rating is standard practice. Do not over-tighten stainless steel fittings, as galling of the threads can occur - use calibrated hand tools and follow fitting manufacturer torque guidance where available.
