The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES SS5000-08-06 is a reducing hex pipe coupling designed to connect two female NPTF threaded lines of different sizes within a single inline fitting. It transitions a 1/2-14 NPTF female port to a 3/8-18 NPTF female port, making it a practical choice for reducing pipe runs in compressed air, hydraulic, steam, and industrial fluid systems. Constructed from 316 stainless steel, it handles operating pressures up to 4900 psi and temperatures up to 1000 degrees F. The hex body allows for standard wrench installation without slipping. Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or ASME piping codes. Depressurize and isolate the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to NPTF threads as required by the system fluid and pressure rating. Use a properly sized wrench on the hex body - do not use pipe wrenches on the fitting body, as they may damage the surface and compromise the seal.
