Product Description

The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES LF48-108 is a lead-free brass half union adapter designed to connect a 5/8 inch male flared end to a 1/2 inch male iron pipe (MIP) thread. The fitting uses a 7/8-14 thread on the flare side and a 1/2-14 thread on the MIP side. It is built for use in refrigeration, HVAC, gas, and fluid piping systems where a flare-to-male-pipe transition is required. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters install this fitting during new construction and service work where copper, brass, aluminum, or steel tubing meets threaded pipe connections.

This half union adapter is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a permanent or serviceable flare-to-pipe connection is needed. It is rated for a temperature range of -40 to 250 degrees F, making it appropriate for refrigerant lines, natural gas piping, propane systems, and general fluid service. Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes, IFGC, or IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fittings. Use an appropriate flaring tool to form a proper 45-degree flare on the tubing end before seating the fitting. Do not overtighten the flare nut, as this can deform the flare seat and cause leaks; apply thread sealant only to the MIP threads, never to the flare connection.
