The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES LF121-2 is a cored hex head plug designed for use in low-pressure pipe systems where a threaded male connection must be temporarily or permanently closed. Constructed from lead-free brass, this plug meets regulatory requirements for potable water and general plumbing applications. It features a 1/8 in male pipe thread (MPT) with a 1/8-27 thread specification, an overall length of 0.55 inches, and a 0.43 in hex drive for standard wrench installation. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during pressure testing, system capping, or port plugging in brass or steel pipe assemblies.
This plug is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a compact, lead-free brass closure is required at a 1/8 in MPT port. Common applications include capping unused tee outlets, pressure test ports, and instrument ports on brass or steel pipe runs. The cored hex head design allows wrench engagement without a recessed socket, making installation straightforward in tight spaces.
Designed for use with brass or steel pipe at 1/8 in MPT threaded ports. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation plug in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before tightening. Do not overtighten brass fittings in steel pipe threads, as this may cause cracking or thread damage.
