The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES LF109AL-12 is a countersunk hex plug designed to close off threaded pipe ends in plumbing and piping systems. Constructed from lead-free brass, this plug meets modern potable-water requirements and is suited for both residential and commercial applications. It features a 3/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT) with a 3/4-14 thread form and measures 0.62 inches in length. The countersunk hex drive allows installation with a standard socket wrench using the 0.56-inch socket size, making it straightforward to seat and torque without exposed wrench flats that could snag in tight spaces. Plumbers and pipefitters install this plug to cap pipe runs, isolate sections, or seal unused outlets during service or rough-in work.
This plug is intended for use with brass or steel pipe in potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing piping systems. Its lead-free brass construction makes it appropriate wherever lead-free compliance is required by local plumbing codes, including installations in drinking water supply lines. The 3/4-inch MPT size fits standard threaded pipe fittings, valves, and manifolds commonly found in residential and light commercial plumbing rough-in work. Plumbers typically use this plug during pressure testing to temporarily or permanently seal branch lines, test ports, or unused tee outlets.
Designed for use with brass or steel pipe featuring standard 3/4-inch female threaded connections. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation plug in threaded pipe assemblies requiring lead-free fittings.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply an approved thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before installation. Do not overtighten; use a socket wrench sized to the 0.56-inch countersunk hex to achieve a proper seal without damaging the fitting.
