The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES CGD-050-A1 is a Type D cam and groove coupler designed for quick-connect fluid transfer applications. It features a 1/2-inch female coupler on one end and a 1/2-inch female NPT connection on the other, machined from aluminum with a 1/2-14 thread specification. The coupler handles a maximum operating pressure of 250 psi and is rated for casting temperatures from -150 to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of process and fluid-handling conditions. An NBR gasket is included, rated for service from -40 to 212 degrees F. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians typically source and install this fitting in hose-assembly and fluid-transfer systems.
This coupler is used in industrial, agricultural, and commercial fluid transfer applications where cam and groove fittings are the standard connection method. Typical install scenarios include tank truck unloading, chemical transfer lines, irrigation systems, and compressed air distribution. The aluminum construction keeps weight low while providing adequate corrosion resistance for most water-based and mild chemical service. The Type D designation identifies it as a female coupler-to-female NPT adapter within the cam and groove system, allowing it to mate with a corresponding Type C or Type E male adapter.
Designed as a standard Type D cam and groove coupler compatible with Type C and Type E male cam and groove adapters following standard cam and groove coupling dimensions for 1/2-inch connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed pipefitter or qualified maintenance technician familiar with cam and groove coupling systems. Depressurize and drain the line completely before disconnecting or installing any cam and groove fitting. Confirm that the NBR gasket is properly seated before engaging the cam arms, and verify that the selected gasket material is chemically compatible with the process fluid. Follow applicable OSHA and facility safety procedures when working with pressurized fluid systems.
