The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES CGB-500-A1 is a Type B cam and groove coupler designed for fast, secure hose-to-pipe connections in industrial fluid transfer applications. The fitting features a 5-inch female coupler on one end and a 5-inch male NPT thread on the other, constructed from cast aluminum for a strong, lightweight build. Rated to 75 psi at 70 degrees F, this coupler handles moderate-pressure service across a wide temperature range. NBR gaskets are included and support continuous service from -40 to 212 degrees F, while the aluminum casting is rated from -150 to 250 degrees F. Plumbers, industrial pipefitters, and fluid-handling professionals install this type of fitting in bulk liquid transfer, irrigation, and process piping systems.
This coupler is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial applications where quick-connect cam and groove assemblies are required. Typical installations include tank-to-tank transfers, chemical handling lines, agricultural irrigation manifolds, and construction dewatering setups. The 5-8 thread specification ensures proper engagement with compatible cam and groove adapters and NPT-threaded pipe or fittings. Its aluminum construction keeps weight manageable on large-diameter assemblies while providing adequate corrosion resistance for many common fluid media.
Designed as a standard Type B cam and groove coupler for use with compatible 5-inch cam and groove adapters and 5-inch male NPT-threaded fittings or pipe in industrial fluid transfer systems.
Installation is typically performed by plumbers, pipefitters, or industrial maintenance technicians. Depressurize and drain the line completely before disconnecting or connecting cam and groove couplings. Verify that the NPT male threads are wrapped with appropriate thread sealant tape or compound rated for the fluid media before making up the threaded connection. Inspect the NBR gasket for wear or damage at each reconnection and replace if the seating surface shows cuts or deformation.
