The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 973624 is an aluminum combination king nipple designed to transition between a 1-1/2 inch hose barb connection and a 1-1/2 inch male pipe thread (MPT) fitting. This dual-end fitting allows a flexible hose to connect directly to a threaded pipe port in a single component, reducing the need for additional adapters. The aluminum construction keeps weight low while providing adequate corrosion resistance for water, light chemicals, and general fluid transfer applications. Plumbers, irrigation contractors, and industrial fluid-handling technicians install this fitting where hose assemblies terminate at NPT-threaded ports on pumps, tanks, manifolds, or valves.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation systems, and industrial fluid transfer lines where a hose-to-pipe transition is required. The 1-1/2 inch hose barb end accepts standard hose with a matching inside diameter, secured with a clamp. The 1-1/2 inch MPT end uses a 1-1/2-11-1/2 NPT thread form, which is the standard taper thread for that pipe size. It is appropriate for above-grade installations and applications where aluminum is compatible with the media being conveyed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for hose assemblies requiring a 1-1/2 inch hose barb to 1-1/2 inch male NPT transition in aluminum construction.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers or irrigation technicians. Shut off fluid supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MPT threads before engagement, and secure the hose barb end with a correctly sized hose clamp torqued to the clamp manufacturer's specification. Verify that aluminum is chemically compatible with the fluid media before installation.
