The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 9661612LF is a lead-free bronze pack joint adapter designed to connect a 1-inch female iron pipe (FIP) thread to a 3/4-inch pack joint (CTS) compression fitting. It provides a reliable, code-compliant transition between threaded pipe systems and copper tubing lines. The lead-free bronze construction meets potable water compliance requirements, making it appropriate for domestic water supply applications. Licensed plumbers and experienced DIYers install this fitting during new construction, remodel work, or service repairs where a threaded-to-compression transition is required at the point of connection.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where copper tubing meets a threaded fitting end. Typical install scenarios include water supply risers, fixture connections, and branch line tie-ins that transition from iron pipe thread to CTS copper. The pack joint design allows the fitting to grip copper tubing without soldering, speeding up installation in tight spaces or where open flame is restricted. It is compatible with copper tubing of the appropriate CTS outside diameter.
Designed for use with copper tubing (CTS) on the compression end and standard 1-inch FIP threaded fittings or valves on the threaded end, suitable for residential and light commercial domestic water supply piping.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. Thread the FIP end onto the mating male thread using appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape; do not overtighten. Ensure copper tubing is cut cleanly, deburred, and inserted fully into the pack joint end before tightening the compression nut to secure the connection.
