The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 9642TH10 is a 3-inch nominal wye strainer built for inline filtration in fluid piping systems. The body is ductile iron, providing impact resistance and durability under pressure cycling. The straining element is stainless steel mesh, which holds up against corrosion and is cleanable without replacement. Threaded end connections allow installation into standard NPT-threaded piping without welding or flanging. This type of strainer is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in commercial and industrial hydronic, process, or water distribution systems to protect downstream equipment such as pumps, meters, and control valves from debris and particulate.
The 9642TH10 is suited for commercial and light industrial applications where inline straining is required upstream of sensitive equipment. The 3-inch threaded configuration fits directly into threaded pipe runs, making it practical for retrofit and new-construction installations alike. Its wye-style body geometry allows the strainer basket to be accessed and cleaned without removing the strainer body from the line, reducing service downtime. Plumbing contractors and mechanical contractors handling hydronic systems, chilled water loops, and process water lines will find this a standard working part for maintaining system cleanliness.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation wye strainer for 3-inch threaded pipe systems in commercial plumbing and hydronic applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and local mechanical codes. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before installing or servicing this strainer. Use thread sealant rated for the service fluid on all NPT connections. The strainer should be oriented with the basket leg angled downward to allow sediment to collect away from flow and to facilitate drainage during cleaning.
