The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 949441 is a 2-piece barrel-type spring check valve designed to allow fluid flow in one direction while preventing backflow. Built with a CF8M/CF8 stainless steel body, a 304 stainless steel disc, and an NBR seat with PTFE seal, this valve is engineered for durability in demanding service conditions. It handles gas, oil, and water media at pressures up to 300 psi and temperatures ranging from -14 to 250 degrees F. The 1/4-inch nominal FPT connection and 2 psi opening pressure make it well-suited for low-flow and precision-control applications in plumbing and fluid-handling systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of valve.
This valve is used in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC fluid circuits, oil distribution lines, and industrial water systems where preventing reverse flow is critical. The 1/4-inch nominal size and FPT (female pipe thread) connections are standard in compact instrument lines, compressed-air headers, and process piping. Its stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for corrosive or sanitary media applications where brass or cast iron fittings are not suitable. A spring cracking pressure of 2 psi ensures positive closure without requiring high system pressure to reseat the disc.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation spring check valve for 1/4-inch FPT inline applications handling gas, oil, or water media in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial fluid-handling systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC codes for the intended media type. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing any existing valve or fitting. Apply thread sealant or tape to FPT connections per standard practice, and verify flow direction against the valve body markings before tightening. Do not exceed the rated 300 psi working pressure or the stated temperature limits for the installed media.
