The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 944433LF is a lead-free brass check valve designed to prevent backflow in pressurized plumbing systems. Rated to 200 psi, it uses a female iron pipe (FIP) connection on both ends with a 1-1/4-11-1/2 thread size, making it a direct-thread installation with no soldering required. The body and seat are brass, the seal is nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), and internal components include a brass screw and cap with a stainless steel spring. This valve is classified as lead-free and meets requirements for potable water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers in both residential and light commercial settings.
This check valve is suited for residential and commercial plumbing lines where backflow prevention is required on a 1-1/4 inch nominal line. The FIP x FIP configuration threads directly onto male-threaded pipe or fittings, making it compatible with standard iron pipe threading. It is commonly installed on water supply lines, water heater outlets, boiler systems, and recirculation lines where reverse flow would cause system damage or contamination. Its lead-free construction qualifies it for use on potable water systems in jurisdictions that enforce lead-free plumbing standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation check valve for 1-1/4 inch nominal FIP-threaded plumbing systems in residential and light commercial applications where lead-free valves are required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing any existing valve or fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe compound to the male threads before installation and hand-tighten before using a pipe wrench. Verify flow direction arrow on the valve body is oriented with the direction of intended water flow before completing installation.
