The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 940355B is a wye-pattern swing check valve designed to allow one-directional flow while preventing backflow in pressurized piping systems. Built with a brass body, this valve seats a swinging disc that opens under forward flow pressure and closes automatically when flow stops or reverses. The 1-1/4-inch FPT (female pipe thread) connections follow the 1-1/4-11-1/2 thread standard for reliable, leak-resistant assembly. At 2.295 pounds, it is a solid, full-bodied valve suited for plumbing, hydronic, and general fluid service applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of check valve.
The 940355B is commonly installed in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where backflow prevention is required without the pressure drop associated with spring-loaded inline check valves. The wye-pattern body orientation reduces flow restriction compared to straight-pattern designs, making it appropriate for water supply, recirculation loops, and similar moderate-pressure piping applications. It connects via FPT ends, allowing direct threaded assembly onto standard male-threaded pipe or fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation check valve for 1-1/4-inch FPT threaded piping systems in residential and light commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before removing any existing valve or making new connections. The valve body should be oriented so the disc swings freely in the intended flow direction - confirm the flow arrow on the body before threading into the line. Use thread sealant tape or compound rated for water service on all male threads before assembly; do not overtighten threaded connections in brass-body valves.
