The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 849015 is a Schedule 80 PVC slip plug designed to cap off or terminate a 1-1/2 inch female socket connection in pressure-rated piping systems. It connects via a male spigot end, which inserts directly into a Schedule 80 socket fitting or valve. PVC construction makes it suitable for a wide range of water, chemical, and industrial fluid applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting when permanently or temporarily closing a branch line or unused port in a PVC piping system. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure tolerance compared to Schedule 40 fittings of the same size.
This slip plug is used in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, industrial process piping, and pool and spa plumbing where Schedule 80 PVC is specified. It is appropriate wherever a solvent-weld termination is required on a 1-1/2 inch socket. Typical applications include capping unused tee outlets, closing test ports, and terminating branch lines during phased construction or system modification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 1-1/2 inch socket connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before solvent-welding this fitting. Use a PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before returning the system to service. Do not apply heat or mechanical force to accelerate the cure process.
