The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 847015 is a Schedule 80 PVC slip cap designed to terminate and seal the open end of a 1-1/2-inch pipe or fitting. The female socket connection slides over the pipe end for a solvent-weld installation, creating a permanent, pressure-rated closure. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure resistance and impact durability compared to Schedule 40, making this cap appropriate for demanding plumbing and industrial piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of new construction, system modification, or pressure-test preparation work.
This slip cap is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems where a Schedule 80 PVC pipeline requires a sealed end point. Common applications include pressure testing pipe runs, capping unused branch lines, and permanently closing off piping segments in water distribution, irrigation, chemical handling, and industrial process systems. The PVC material resists corrosion and is compatible with a wide range of fluids handled in typical plumbing installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 1-1/2-inch pipe diameter.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or fitting any pipe. Clean and prime the pipe end and socket before applying PVC solvent cement per the cement manufacturer instructions. Allow the solvent weld to cure fully before restoring pressure to the system.
